Red Cake

            Cake                         1     tsp  soda
            1/2   cup  shortening        1     Tbs  vinegar
            1-1/2  cup  white sugar      Frosting
            2           eggs             1     cup  milk
            2           bottles red food   1/4   cup  flour
                        coloring         1     cup  sugar
            1     tsp   salt             3/4   cup  Crisco
            1     cup  buttermilk        1-1/2  tsp  vanilla
            2-1/2  cups  flour
            1     tsp   vanilla
            2     Tbs  cocoa

            Procedure
            Cake
            1  Cream shortening & sugar
            2  Add whole eggs and food coloring and mix.
            3  Sift together salt, flour and cocoa.  Add to creamed mixture
              alternating with buttermilk beating after each addition.
            4  Add remaining ingredients and mix by hand
            5  Put in greased and floured cake pan and bake at 350° for 25
              to 30 minutes.
            Frosting
            1  Cook milk and flour until it becomes thick like white sauce.
              Remove from heat and cool.
            2  Cream sugar and Crisco.
            3  Add white sauce and vanilla and beat on high speed until stiff.
            4  Spread frosting on cake
